Sophie Went Back Home

So you knows that my former foster sis Sophie woz staying wif us fur the week while her peeples woz at a fambly reoonion. They woz supposed to come back rilly late last nite and get Sophie this morning but because they woz missing Sophie so much, they lefted the reoonion at 5 in the morning yesterday and drived all day to get home early enuff to pick up Sophie last nite. We taked a last groop pikshure afore Sophie wented home.


So when Sophie woz picked up, furst she seened her daddy and she did dubbull takes like she could not beleeve hers eyes. Then she flyed into her daddy's arms, gibbed him kissies in the face and cried rilly lowd. Then she saw her mommy and flyed into her mommy's arms to gib her a gabillion kissies and cry rilly lowd coz she woz so happy to see her fambly. It did make our eyes leak.

Sophie's mom gibbed my mom an envelope and mom sayed she did not want no monies fur us taking care of Sophie but Sophie's mom insisted so we tolded her fine, but we woz not keeping the monies, we woz donating the monies fur udder animals wot needs them. And later when we opened the envelope, there do be two gabillion dollars in there. OMD!


So there do be a cuppull of bloggies wot we follows wot is raising monies fur animals rite now so here be wot we is going to do. We is going to send the Sophie monies to THE THUNDERING HERD for sponsoring them on they big walkathon next weekend. So be watching for you go postal man next week coz he be bringing it to you disguyzed as a check!

The Toof V-E-T. Again.

Today I wented for my recheck from when I had my toof pulled a cuppull of weeks ago. Since Dixie had been to the toof V-E-T and I had been to the toof V-E-T, it be only fair that Sydney go to the toof V-E-T too so I brunged her along.


While we woz in the waiting room, pizza delivery camed wif EIGHTEEN pizzas!

But we did not get any coz turns out the pizza woz for the peeples wot werks there. Boo. The toof V-E-T did gib us cookies, tho, to help us get over hasing hurt feelings over the pizza.

The toof V-E-T sayed efurrything do look wonnerful in my mouf. So the reason Sydney needed her teef looked at is she had 4 root canals done 4 years ago when mom gotted her out of the shelter. Her Count Dracula fang teefs woz brokened off and we duss not know why or wot happened to her. (She also had a brokened hip, mammary cancer, hookworm, whipworm, heartworm, and ummm, I think that be it. But she be all fixed up now.) The top teefs not be looking so good now and has pariodontol diseeze so the toof V-E-T stoled bluds from Sydney and mom has to bring her back on anudder day and leave her so the toof V-E-T can make x-ray pikshures while Sydney takes a nap. If'n the top teef turns out to be rilly bad, mom agreed they should be pulled, but if pawsibull, the toof V-E-T will try to save them. As you can see, Sydney alreddy has no teefs atween her Count Drakula fangs with the root canals. They woz pulled when she had the root canals done.

But the toof V-E-T woz furry impressed at how clean Sydney's back teef is. They be purrfect and need nuttin to be done to them.

So now for the fun part. When Dixie maded me go to the toof V-E-T with her, we stopped by Thompson Park wot be furry close to the V-E-T place for walkies by the reservoir. So I bringed Sydney there to show her the reservoir. She do be all eggsited. We wish we could live closer to that park but mom says it cost too much to live there and she done gibbed all her monies to the toof V-E-T.


I showed Sydney the reservoir.


And we walkied along the reservoir for a mile afore we had to drink waters coz it be a furry hawt day, like 91 gabillion degrees. Even tho we walkied in the shades, it woz still hawt and we dranked lots of waters.



Two miles do be all Sydney can walk so we headed back along the reservoir...


...to the car where we dranked more waters...


...and drived home in the kewl air condishonings...


We did has a furry good time udder than for not nomming any of that pizza. Sigh.

Hiking with Haley

I finally gotted to hike with my furrend Haley from Connettikit. A cuppull of weeks ago we woz supposed to meet to hike but Haley's mom gotted lost and we never did find each udder. So this weekend Haley and her mom woz in Noo York at Haley's gramma's howse so they hopped on over to Noo Joisey to our howse and we wented hiking. We only did hiking for 4 miles. You will soon see why. It has to do wif the wevver peeples being rilly, rilly rong about the wevver.

Furst we had to cross a bizzy street from the pawking lot and I akshually got a rilly good shot of the bizzy street with the Shawnee Cam: (pawlese make note of the pritty bloo skies)

We commed to this rawk wot sayed there be a shelter where Indians used to go long times ago so we wented to check that out.


But mom furgotted to take pikshures of the Indian shelter coz her and Haley's mom founded these bones. Haley's mom sayed she thought they woz hooman bones. My mom thought deer bones. Haley and I wozn't interested in them at all.


Then we commed to a seenik overlook. (pawlese make note of the clowds)



Then we commed to a lake and wented for a swim. It do be furry hawt out and the swim woz furry refreshing.


Then we taked a brake by the lake and OMD, lookie at the speshul treat noms mom broughted for me and Haley!


The rappers woz impossibull to get open so I wated furry pashently while the boy used his knife to open the noms, cutted his hand and maded blud all over, mom had to get him a bandade out of the furst aid kit, it taked furever...


Finally, NOMS!




So then we started hiking again and all of a sudden, OMD, thunner boomers and monsoon hurrycane storms and crazzee winds wot maded us all wet! (We founded out later there had been a TORNADO 25 miles away in Noo York - YIKES, that woz close!) Mom and Haley's mom standed in the pouring rains while me and Haley stood unner a rawk cave.



When the rains wozn't so crazzee strong and letted up a bit, we had to cut our hike short and take a trail strate back to the car. We woz all soaked like we had takened a baf.


Haley gotted towel dried in her car...


... and I gotted towel dried in my car...


And that woz the end of our hike coz of the rains. Haley and I will just has to hike again some udder time.

A Visit From an Old Furrend and the Saturday Blog Hop!

We duss has a howse gest this week! It be my old foster sisfur, Pumpkin, wot is now named Sophie.


You mite rememmer her from a year ago coz she has very uneek eyelashes wot you never see on dogs:


And she woz in my bloggie when I gotted pwizes in the mails!

Sophie's whole story about how she gotted out of the shelter and adopted is here but in a nutshell, the dog catcher picked her up running amok on the streets and called the nummer on her rabies tag to find out where she lived. He called her peeples and they sayed keep her, they not be wanting her any mores coz they fence be broked and they not be wanting to spend monies to fix it. Then mom saw Sophie peeing BLUD! Yikes! Sophie's bladder woz full of rawks and the peeples never spented monies at the V-E-T for her either. Noggty, noggty peeples! So Sophie had an operashun and was maded all better. Sophie has been on speshul noms with Bitamin C and cranberry capsools and her new peeples, wot lubs her a whole, whole lots and say she be the bestest dog evah, say there be no more prawblems with her pee. Yay!



So anyways, Sophie stays with her gramma when her new peeples goes away but this week they is going to a fambly reunion so gramma is going along and they has nobody they trusted to watch Sophie with her speshul noms and all. So she be spending the week here wif us til her peeples gets back. Yay!



Sophie do be sleeping like a froggie sometimes. I cannot duss that.


PEE ESS: OMD! Duh, mom, you has been calling her by the rong name! I had "Sylvie" in the bloggie at furst but I had to go back and change it coz I rememmered it should be Sophie! Mom duss not handle name changes furry well, BOL!

Slide Mountain and Giant Ledge - Catskill Mountains, NY

Today we wented to the Catskill Mountains in Noo York where we hiked up to the top of Slide Mountain wot is 4,180 feets up high. It be the highest mountain in the Catskills and there do be something like 38 mountains there. The highest mountain in Noo Joisey do be only 1,803 feets up high. That hike woz only 6.5 miles long so we wented up to Giant Ledge, too, wot woz 3.5 miles so we had our 10 miles. Mom figgers when we has to drive almost 3 hours to does hiking, we has to do at least 10 miles.


I had to cross over bridges...


And climb up rawks...



We finded this marker wot woz to rememmer two hikers from 1900. They names woz William Curtis and Allen Ormsbee. One day they wented hiking on Mount Washington in Noo Hampsheer and died in an ice storm. The had maded the trail we hiked on wot taked us up to Slide Mountain.


Then we gotted to the top of the Slide Mountain. There be this famuss dude named John Burroughs wot used to camp at the top of Slide Mountain long time ago. So here be a pikshure of John Burroughs in 1900 and me unnerneath in the same spot in 2010. He used to camp in that hole to the rite in the rawks:

So then we gotted to see some seenik views of the udder mountains but we woz on the biggest one.




So then we commed down from Slide Mountain, gotted in the car and drived a cuppull of miles over to the pawking lot for Giant Ledge and climbed up that mountain. It woz only 3200 feets high but we woz alreddy tired from climbing Slide Mountain! But there woz even better seenik views up there:




So I has no Shawnee Cam pikshures today coz mom messed something up when she did the settings. Boo. She promised to do better next time so I furgibs her.
