I will get to telling you about my hikings in a bit but I just has to show you my pikshurs from the Shawnee Cam furst! I is too eggsited to wate. We did not has a camera malfunkshun last week, we had a mom malfunkshun coz she did not do it rite. So she figgered it out and did it rite today so here you goes, my pikshurs!
Trees and sunbeams:
Mom, or her legs that is.
Mom's knee:
A rawk in the woods:
Tall grasses wot we walked by:
Deep in the forest where it woz dark:
Trees and bloo skies:
All of mom BOL!
The forest with sunbeams coming thru the trees:
I taked a pikshur of mom taking a pikshur of me!
This be the hair on my chinny chin chin, and mom's legs BOL!
I is not kwite shore I unnerstand how this werks but I is going to give it a try. I is supposed to copy a linkie wot I is going to paste here:
I think the way it werks is if'n you copy the linkie then you hop around from blog to blog or somefing. OK, well, I is gibbing it my bestest shot. Here goes.
Oh, I think I gotted it now. After you grab that linkie wot you get up there unner the list and paste it in your bloggie, you publish your bloggie then go and add your bloggie URL as the next one on the list and efurrybody else gets it on their list. I think.
Today we hiked 10.5 miles in Black Rock Forest. It woz rilly cold and windy. The day afore we woz hasing 40-50 mph wind gusts. I don't think it woz that bad today but still crazzee windy. Eggsept for deep in the forest where the winds could not reach us. The Black Rock Forest is kind of like a big school where students study science stuffs. But there is hiking trails for us to use too. That is rilly nice that they let us use their classroom for hikings.
So mom gotted the Shawnee Cam (thanks Yoda, I like that name for it) reddy and putted it on my collah. See, I is reddy for my fotografy career. The lite woz flashing green like it woz supposed to, all systems GO!
First we commed to Split Rock where there woz a view of Sutherland Pond:
Then we hiked down to Sutherland Pond but it woz too cold and windy to go in the waters. (Besides, profeshunal fotografers cannot goes in the waters wif a camera on they collah!)
And then there woz this nifty boardwalk over the swamps:
Then we commed to Eagle Cliff:
With a view of the Noo York City skyline:
Mom did a movie to try to capshur the panoramic view. I think she needs to go a little slower coz it maded me a little dizzy.
And, oh noes, litters.... Wot I find rilly noggty about these litters is big peeples does not drink Capri Sun. So some big peeples bringed they childruns to see the beeotiful seeneries, gibbed them Capri Sun for they snack, then letted the childruns throw litters on the ground. Those is the big peeples of the future. How very sad that their parents is alreddy teaching them the noggty ways of the litterbugs.
After Eagle Cliff we wented to Spy Rock where in the Revolushunary War soldiers could spy on the enemies - see, I spy on you BOL!
So then it woz time for some of those nommy Alaskan Salmon Yummy Chummies wot Boris sented me. If'n mom had not opened it fast, I woz going to nom the wrapper too!
Then we wented to an overlook at Hill of Pines:
And to the Aleck Meadow Reservoir:
Then when we gotted to Black Rock we could see the Hudson River:
We then walked a bit on the Continental Road wot is where Revolushun War soldiers marched long times ago. They not there any mores.
Then we seened this big rawk thing. OMD, wot is that?
I headed to the udder side for investigashuns... It's a fireplace wot somebody builded and they even has rawk chairs to sit on!
So when we woz at one of the seenik overlooks, mom and I taked a pikshur togedder for Mother's Day:
And for all the udder moms out there I gib you this purty flowah for Mothers Day wot I founded on our hike:
Does anybody know wot kind of burd this is? Hims woz rilly purty wif black on hims back, white brest and rusty orange on the sides and some white on hims wings. Hims sayed "WEET, WEET, WEET" He woz about the size of a robin but he is not a robin. That is the only kind of burd I knows wot it is. (Pee Ess - I founded him, I founded him! This burd does be an Eastern Towhee!)
Then as we woz leaving the Black Rock Forest, mom pulled over to take a pikshur of this silly turkey wot would not move for cars and woz going to get runned over! Mom woz just getting reddy to go shoo her away off the road when the burdbrane turkey decided she had better move on back into the forest.
So then the big moment of eggsitements. We gotted home and mom went to offload my pikshurs from the Shawnee Cam! Are you reddy? Drum roll, puhleeze..........
WOT? OMD! Where is my pikshurs? We had a malfunshun. Oh noes, we will has to try again next weekend. So sorry. I knows efurryone woz in suspense over seeing my pikshurs. We will practice some more this week.
I gotted two mails this week! Furst, while I woz away last weekend, a package camed from my very good furrend Boris. There woz only one pwoblem. This is wot the box looked like when I walked in the door: OMD! Why is my mails opened? The boy fessed up that coz it sayed it woz for Shawnee, he figgered it woz OK to open it coz he woz being nosy. NOT OK BOY! Grrrrr.
Anyways, Boris had buyed a Pet's Eye View Camera but woz no liking it on hims collah so he sented it to me so I could try my paw at fotografies while hiking. We be testing it out on our hikings tomorrow. We has the boy futzing wif it rite now trying to get the test pikshurs off of it wot I taked yesterday. That be his punishment for opening my mails.
As you can see, Boris sented all udder kinds of goodies, too, he is such a pal!
Mom, put those treat samples in your hiking backpack for my snack for tomorrow's hikings afore Dixie and Sydney sees them. Wait, we split one package and put away the rest. Nom.
And that Boris, always thinking, also sented a tick key in case I get any tickies on me. Wonner if it werks on mom coz she be getting more tickies than me here lately, BOL. Mom be putting that rite into hers backpack too. Good thinking, Boris!
Then today I gotted mails from my furrend Bijntje in the Netherlands(@bijntje on Twitter). I had wonned a quiz at a Twitter pawpawty back in March and Bijntje had donated a kewl prize wot I wonned.
But wot woz this? It commed in a postal peeples body bag...
wot sayed on the back:
We knowed Bijntje has sented the pwize rite after I wonned it and look at the postmark, that be March 22:
Today be May 8. It taked the postal peeples 48 days to get the package here! (Mom counted it up coz I cannot count that hi.) We knows it had to go across the big pond but I has had Royal Mails from Inglund wot not taked that long. So I hopes Bijntje woz not thinking I woz being rude for not saying thank you. I had not gotted it until now. So sorry Bijntje!
Anyways, Bijntje sented me a kewl bag and we is big on reusable bags here coz we dussn't believe in wasting resources on disposable stuffs wot yuks up our earth. I putted some of my toys and the new toys from Boris in the bag for demonstrashun purposes. Thank you so much Boris and Bijntje for the wonnerful prezzies!
We had such wonnerful wevvers on Friday and Saturday but when we waked up on Sunday, May 2, there was rains on the ground. One minit the skies woz gray, the next minit blue skies and sunshines. We waited a while to see if'n the wevver woz going to make up it's mind but no, it did not. So we went hiking anyways.
We started out at the Lakeside Campground and climbed up to Middle Mountain on the Salt Stump trail. It woz very hawt and hoomid. We did not get good pikshurs coz efurrything woz foggy so you cannot see all the mountains.
But that woz OK. We had seened those mountains from up high on Friday. This time we wented up just a little higher on Middle Mountain wot goes about 3,000 feet in the air. Whoa! On the way down we seened some interesting wildlifes.
A millipede:
... a little brown froggie:
... and some dung beetles: That is not my poo! In fact, mom feels rilly bad coz back at home-away-from-home she missed picking up a small piece of my poo and she seened it moving across the ground all by itself! Mom went and looked closer and a dung beetle woz rolling it over to hims house! When he gotted there he wented into hims hole, mom picked up the poo and told him she woz rilly sorry but she could not let him has my poo coz it did not belong there. But the poo wot these dung beetles on the trail had woz from wildlifes so it belongs there and mom tolded them to carry on. They could keep that poo.
So then we comed to Douthat Lake wot we had not walked along afore. We had only seened it from the road and from up high in the mountains.
But even with the icky wevvers Douthat Lake still looked rilly nice, just no boats on it in drizzly rains and fogs.
Here is the trails wot we hiked for 8.5 miles.
So all togedder, we hiked 32 miles in 3 days! All of wot is in hawt pink on the map. Wow!
We wanted to hike some of the trails wot we missed afore driving home today but it woz raining rilly hard this morning so we headed on home. We is rilly glad we had two rilly beeootiful days and one day wot woz still good enuff for a hike. Me and mom is so glad that Yoda's mom suggested we come there coz we had such a grate time and we want to come to Furginia again and see more beeootiful places! And thank you Furginia being pet-furrendly and for letting me come and making me feel at home-away-from home on my hiking vakashun.
