The Free Ewey Hike

OK, so mom started following this bloggie about a fambly from Noo Joisey wot is traveling around the Wild, Wild West with their stuffie lamb, Ewey.  Seems like Ewey had a brush with the law out there and that Ranger Dave in Zion put him in the slammer.  You can read all about wot happened HERE. So fur bail, 15 peeples either has go fur a walkie or a hike.  So Ewey, this hike be fur your bail.  I hiked 10.6 miles today at Sterling Forest State Park in Noo York.  Mom did too coz I has to drag her along with her being my ride and all, so if'n that counts, you has 2 more.
Me and my furrend Smokey Bear.
So we started the hike in Noo York but we commed back around by Noo Joisey on the trail.  The sign do say "NY-NY LINE" but somebuddy shoosted holes in it.   Grrrrr.
Then I had to scramble up steep, steep rawks to get to seeniks.  I show you how I did it.

Then at the top, ta da!  Seeniks!  You can click on the Pan-O-Rama to biggify it.
Then we commed to the Sterling Fire Tower:
Wate a minit....  Wot be going on here? Why is I tied to the fire tower?
Oh. My. Dog.  She did not! Mom climbed the fire tower!  Well, not all the way coz you know she be skeered of climbing up high like that but she made it to the 5th level and that be the highest she has efur climbed.  I did not hear her scream or nuttin.  And she got some seeniks from up there but they has part of the fire tower in them coz she did not climb high enuff.
Then we woz off again and commed to a seenik at Greenwood Lake.
I is in this Pan-O-Rama of Greenwood Lake
There woz so many boats on the lake I had to count them on my paws three times, that be 60 boats!  And those woz the ones moving around not counting the ones wot woz parked.

I saw lots of chipmonkies today but they woz too fast to has their pikshures taken.  There woz a whole flock of turkeys, too, and mom got one of them but the pikshure did not turn out.  We did get pikshures of these guys.
There woz a gabillion of these teeny mini frogs hopping around and we had to watch our paws so we did not squish them. They woz only bout 1/2 inch long.
Can you find this frog? He be about the size of my paw but he be camooflodged.
And we seened some pritty flowahs and udder plants, too.
Rhododendrons wot is starting to bloom.
Blooberries wot the bears be nomming on.
Mushy Rooms
Daisies
Then, OMD, we gotted home and mom pulled two tickies off of her legs, one woz crawling on her car seat and she yanked ELEBEN out of my legs along with some of my furs.  Ouch. They usually dussn't get on mom coz she sprays the Deeps Woods OFF on but these tickies did not care.  Yikes.  We has a new saying around here...
A good tickie be a ded tickie.
That woz death by Starbucks Frappuccino sediments mixed with waters and soaps.  It werked!  (I always knowed that bafs be bad.)

Glens, Ravines and Historic Village

OK, so that OP Pack woz rite.  They sayed they betted I would be hiking again this weekend.  I had tolded you all that coz the wevver woz supposed to be hawt and hoomid on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, mom taked vakashun Fursday and Furiday coz those woz not hoomid days and we hiked on Fursday.  Howefur, I checked the wevver last nite and the wevver man changed his mind but fur the better - no hoomids TODAY! The hoomids is late and they be here on Sunday instead.  We did not has a hike planned so we had to scramble to come up with something rilly fast coz if'n we woz going to leave early, it woz bed time alreddy!  We had this hike on our "to do" listie but the hike be too short so we nefur did it.  Well, seeing as we hiked 14.6 miles on Fursday, a short hike was pawfect fur today so we did this one wot woz 7.5 miles.
The hike do start out through this Millbrook historical village where there be some furry interesting things. Come along and I show you some of the hilites.
This be the old turnpike wot woz the main road thru the village in the olden days.
Oh my woof! A historical dog howse hidey spot from the olden days!
Obedience school fur childruns or mebbe that dog from the dog house.
I is allergic to hay (fur real) - see how it maked my hed all fuzzy?
Then once we got out of the village we seened something ofur unner the trees and went to check it out.  OMD, it do be a grave fur a dog! But he lived way after that village so I don't think he lived in that dog house.
This is wot we found on the innerwebs at http://nynjctbotany.org/njaptofc/watergte.html about George Busch and Bozo and that area wot be called Watergate Picnic Area:
Watergate was the 1950s estate of George Busch. There are only remains now, such as a stone dam with a Victorian turret and the grave of Busch's dog Bozo.
1952 – his wife Helene died at age 49.
1970 – George died in his sleep.
Source: www.buschfamily.net/Garrett/George/
(Pee Ess - no relashun to the presidenshul Watergate or George Bush.)

Now the fun part begins.  Follow me.  Into the glen...
Van Campen Brook!
Van Campens Falls!
Swimming!
Then we leaved the glen and went looking fur this old cemetery wot is supposed to be off the trail somewhere.  We founded it! And not many peeples must know how to get to it coz it be in good shape, no vandalisms or litter bugs or stuff like that.
This be the DePue Cemetery (not to be confuzzled with PePe Le Pew) and the oldest tombstone seems to be from 1839 but they is all from the 1800's.

Back on the trail, OMD, look wot else I founded!
Sorry I missed Mr. Turtle but I gibbed his hidey spot a smooch and left some Shawnee slobber on it (see the shiny stuffs?) so he knowed I been here to say HEY!
Then we went by some old falling apart farm howses...
See, wot happened woz back in 1955 they woz going to build a dam on the Delaware River and that would has made a lake 140 feets deep and flooded all of these houses (and the bootiful Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area where we hike lots).  So the governmentals made peeples move out of their howses wot would get flooded.  But then the dam woz nefur builded coz it make peeples too mad and they stopped it from happening.  So the howses just sitted empty and rotted away.  I think this old jalopy must be from back then, too.
Then we commed back around to the udder end of that Van Campens Brook and I got to get my furs rewetted.
After I had my final fur wetting, I taked mom back to the car.
Eggsept fur we had to go thru big grasses and mom has pulled seben tickies off of me so far. ICK!  I use K9 Advantix wot is supposed to repel ticks.  NOT!  At least it makes the tickies fuzzy in the hed like that hay made me so mom can grab them and yank them off udderwise I has to bitey them with my teefs and try to pull them off myself but mom duss not approve of that fur some reason. I HATE TICKIES!

Another Castle, Dragon and Gazebos

I went hiking early this week coz the wevver be bootifuls and ofur the howliday weekend it be too hawt and hoomid so mom played hookie taked vakashun days from werk.  So we went back to about the same area we woz at last weekend to see wot udder eggsiting things we could find.
So we started out at this place called "Manitoga" wot means "Place of the Great Spirit."  It used to be a quarry like where I woz last weekend where they blasted the mountain with Dy-No-Mite like KABOOM! and cut down all the trees. This man named Russel Wright buyed the ugly quarry and turned it into a nature wonderland.
Dogs register here.
He even made his howse to blend in. Can you see it in this picture?
It do be up on that quarry rawk on the left. He named his howse "Dragon Rock."Here it be biggified:
And this do be his studio - it be almost totally camooflodged coz there be grass on the ROOF!
Can you see it here?

And there do be a place called Lost Pond but I founded it:
So then we hiked from there ofur to Sugarloaf Hill where there be seeniks.
That bridge is the Bear Mountain Bridge wot lets the Appalachian Trail go ofur the Hudson River.  I hiked ofur that afore.  This woz also a great break spot where I had a chickun strip. Nommy!
Then we went on to this place called Castle Rock and we went here speshull fur the Road Dogs' dad coz he likes castles. But you cannot buy this one or go inside it coz peeples lives in it still!  They gibbed a lot of their land to the park fur hiking trails but they keeped the castle.
So then we went ofur to the Hudson River
Heading towards the Hudson River...
Hey, those be my werds...
OMD! OMD! OMD!
The deer did not even run away from me. She woz nomming like CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH and did not stop.  Unfortoonately, mom made me stop watching the deer and move on along to the Hudson.

OMD! Look at all that litter. That be way too much fur us to carry out and sides, we is not cleaning up a pawty spot so they can have it all nice to just pawty again.  We just moved on to a better spot where there be no litterbugs.

Then we found this gazebo where I rested fur a minit:
Then we woz on the path what that Benedict Arnold used to eggscape to a boat in the Hudson River when they founded out he be a traitor!
There be a deck at the spot overlooking where he got in the boat at the river but you cannot see anything coz of leaves on the trees.

So then we headed back and found this gazebo in the woods:

and woz on the Appalachian Trail fur a bit...
...where we runned smack into a SNEK!
We had a standoff coz he would not move out of the way so when we tried to go around him to the rite, he sayed "Hey, I woz going that way!" and started moving in that direkshun so we had to go around the udder way and he RATTLED HIS TAIL AT US!  Mom knowed he just be a black rat snake with no poisons or nuttin but she sayed to him "Did you just RATTLE at me?"  Mom googled it when we got home and it seems the black rat sneks can rattle their tales to do an immitashun of the poison rattlesneks to make you skeered so you leave them alone. We wozn't going to bother him anyways, we just needed him to move ofur.

We also seened a pritty buttahfly:
And a tiger beetle wot do be the brightest green efur!
We hiked 14.6 miles and I went strate to my hidey spot when we gotted home so I let the loverly Sydney model the litters fur you.  These be udder litters wot we picked up along the way, not at that pawty spot.
