| You might recognize our old (I mean like 20 years old) L.L. Bean dog blanket. It has served us well but required waterproof pads underneath to protect the seat. It was time for a change. |

| There is actually a good reason I stayed with this old, threadbare LL Bean cover. I had bought a waterproof car set cover a while back to replace it but the vinyl smell was so strong and hideous, I could not stand to have it in the car much less have Shawnee laying on it. But I was pleased to see this Kurgo cover is BPA and Phthalate free. All I noticed when I first I got in the car after installing the seat cover was a faint new smell that was not overpowering at all and I only noticed it twice, then no smell whatsoever. |

| The instructions look more complicated than it actually is to install the seat cover. It does take a little time to get all of the adjustments right but once that is done it is the only time you need to do it. I particularly like the fasteners labeled "E" - a tube on a cord that slips into where the seat crevice - does a fantastic job of keeping the cover in place. |

| So here we are on our way to the Catskills in New York to go hiking, Brodie all decked out in his hiking harness and safely attached with a seat belt connected through the access pocket of the seat cover. |

| Unfortunately, in Brodie's case, this was not a good idea. By the time we arrived he had chewed through both his harness and his new seat belt :( Well, it's a great idea for most dogs. Just not for Razor Jaws Brodie. And this is why we will not be using the storage pockets for treats. |

| Because Brodie tends to get car sick, whether he eats before the ride or not, I just throw down a few towels and off we go. There needs to be something to absorb the vomit or it just sits on top of the car seat cover. (Sorry to make you visualize that.) |

| I'll spare you the actual picture of the vomit but with the dirty towel rolled up in the floor, you can see there is nothing on the seat cover and nothing soaked through to the car seat. The top of the cover does get a wet spot so I just wipe the spot with a little bit of enzymatic cleaner and there has been no vomit smell in the car at all. |
THE FINAL VERDICT:
We have made two trips to the Catskills with the seat cover, a total of 10 hours of driving, and it has performed very well. The seat cover does not move around, it contains what soaks through the towels and has cleaned up easily. I haven't had to do a thorough cleaning yet but based on how it has held up through four vomit episodes so far, it shouldn't need a thorough cleaning very often at all. We are heading out on a week long road trip soon and I am confident that this seat cover will do the job.
