Virginia Vacation Day 3: Sky Meadows State Park, VA

So on Saturday we drived to Sky Meadows State Park.  It do be there that I discovered some more fears I did not knows I had.  But furst I show you the park sign wot do has furry festive dekorashuns.
So rite off the bat, we commed to where there woz cows.  I had neffur seened cows up close and purrsonal afore and mom wanted a pikshure of me with the cows.
Mom, why is Bessie and Beulah gibbing me the stink-eye?
Yikes, get me outta here!
One of the cows snorted, I jumped in the airs and I did not want to be by those cows no more.  They is skeery.

So we went on and started seeing some seeniks.
Whew.  There be no cows here.
I wonner if'n those cows did this to this pore critter...
So then we commed up high to the meadows wot is rilly meadows up in the sky atop the mountain.
There do be a prawblem, howeffur.  A gabillion crickets live in the meadows.
When you walk thru the meadow they all jump up in your face, say "bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz", fly off to the side, land on a dry leaf wot makes a crunch sound.  So a gabillion of them doing that at the same time is way furry skeery.  I had to walk ahind mom and let her clear the way.  And since then efurry time we walk through an open area wot has no trees, I walk ahind mom just in case.  Mountain crickets do be my noo phobia now.

But there woz some furry pritty seeniks:

There woz lots of udder dogs hiking but I only gotted a pikshure of this one.  He do be a bloodhound/German shepherd mix.  Can you see the famblee resemblence?
So, as if this hike had not been skeery enuff so far, we commed to this.  Apparently, cows do share a fear with me - neither of us likes steps so these be steps wot lets peeples get into fields but keeps cows from getting out coz they will not climb stairs.  Like me.
Ummm, mom, I think we has a prawblem...
I will leave it to your imaginashuns how I gotted over the steps.  But I wented rite unner a bench just in case there be any of those cows around.
Little did I know I had my behind in a cow pie.
Luckily there woz no cows in this meadow rite now.  Whew. I know, a farm dog I is not but it woz still a pawsome hike.
On the way home to the cabin we seened this furry kewl license plate:
More to come...

Virginia Vacation Day 2: Shenandoah National Park, VA - Whiteoak Canyon/Hawksbill/Cedar Run

So on our second day of vacashun we woked up rilly early in the mornings while it woz still dark outside and drived to Shenandoh-ha National Park.  We woz treated to a bootiful sunrise on the way.

Then we finded the road blocked by Mountain Chickens like the one Anna seened in North Crayolina eggsept this woz a hole hurd of them.  Fortunately we woz in our car and mom woz able drive thru them without harming any chickuns.
So then we gotted to Whiteoak Canyon and started hiking up high by waterfalls.  They say you climb 2200 feets up in the air and they even has warning signs posted that it be a furry difficult hike.
Then we woz going on up to the top of Hawksbill Mountain afore going back down coz we do be so close and it be the highest mountain in Shenandoh-ha Park.  We would be climbing up about 3000 feets all togedder.  Yikes!
Climbing up rawks.
Lower Whiteoak Falls
Upper Whiteoak Falls

Looking down Whiteoak Canyon from up high.
Then we commed to Skyline Drive wot is the famuss road you can drive your car on through Shenandoh-ha Park!
So we woz not done climbing yet.  Now on up to the summit of Hawksbill Mountain.
There woz some seeniks along the way and it woz crazee windy up there!  It woz cold up there, too and mom could see my bref.  Mom had to put her rain gear on to keep the cold winds from going rite thru her fleece!  I has my unnercoat on all the times so I woz not cold.
So then we gotted to the summit of Hawksbill Mountain wot is 4,050 feets up high.

There be a viewing platform wot we could stand on.  That man ahind me woz visiting from East Germany.  I heared him tell my mom that.
We could not stay there long coz mom's fingers woz freezing so we headed back down and on to Cedar Run wot woz all downhill by more waterfalls all the way back to our car.

It woz much warmer down off the Hawksbill Mountain so I gotted to go in the water and get my furs wet.

We dinnot see those Mountain Chickuns on the way home to our cabin but we did see some Mountain Cows.
Stay tooned - more advenshures to come!

Virginia Vacation Day 1 - Cacapon State Park, WV and My Cabin

So I just gotted back from my hiking vakashun in Furginia.  It woz totally pawsome.  Mom and I lefted last Fursday and stopped in West Furginia furst to hike there on the way.  We hiked 6.5 miles at Cacapon State Park.
So we had just started hiking when a rawk grabbed mom's foot and maded her fall flat on her face.  I woz not able to render furst aid licks to her banged up knee coz she had long pants on so I figgered I should render comforts by sitting on top of mom.  Whereupon mom yelled rilly lowd fur me to get off of her so she could breef.  So much fur gratitudes.  The good news be that mom could still hike with her bruised knee.   So see, my rendering of comforts did help.

I woz so eggsited about leaving on our trip that I did not eat my breakfast afore we left the howse so in this pikshure above I woz thinking about hasing some of those nommy Zukes Powah Bones fur snack.
"No mom, NOT kibble..."
"Bingo! Powah Bones!"
"OK, now I will nom on my kibble."
Then we seened a rilly cute snek.  No worries, he woz not the poisoning kind.
And some seeniks:

When we lefted the park and woz driving to Furginia, mom seened this sign:
And then we founded the market!

Bet you did not knows I is famuss in West Furginia, did you?

Then finally we gotted to Shenandoah River State Park in Furginia where we woz staying in a cabin wot lets dogs stay there!  Here do be our wonnerful cabin. The cabins is all brandie new and has only been opened since this summer.  We woz in cabin 6 and can you beleef it woz rite next to where the hiking trails start?  See that brown informashun board?  That do be the hiking trail rite outside our door!  OK, so common inside and I show you around...
The front door.
The furry kewl porch with rawking chairs by the woods
The kitchun fur noms.
The living room with furnitures wot has bears on them.
The bedroom fur if'n you has childruns.
A bedroom fur me and mom.
A bafroom.
A nice spot fur my bed unner the winder wot I can look out of at the woods.
So after we got unloaded and unpacked we took a quick little hike down to the river and guess wot we founded?  Yoda's cabin!  Yoda had been there a few weeks ago and coz hims mom werks fur Furginia State Parks, they gotted to stay in a furry speshul cabin wot Yoda say not be fit fur public consumpshun.  This be it:
And, you mite ask, how duss I know that be the cabin?  Well, you see, Yoda lefted me all kinds of pee-mail.  Did I find it all Yoda?
That woz some joosy gossip, Yoda!  Thanks!

So we had lots of hikes and advenshures so stay tooned coz I be telling you all about them!

Also, thank you efurryone fur your kind condolences fur our Claudie.  He woz on our mind lots while we woz on vakashun but all of your werds helped so much.
