Harriman State Park, NY/Kakiak County Park, NY

We hiked 13.5 miles at Harriman State Park in Noo York today but we parked in Kakiat County Park and walked through that park furst over their kewl little bridge.

Of course we had the usual seenik overlooks

This overlook be icky tho coz there is lots of elektrisity stuff in it:

And I had to engage the doggy four paw drive to get up some of these rawks:

The bugs woz kwite annoying and I woz hasing to thwock at them wif my paws:

Mom catched me nomming on something and I had to spit it out coz she tolded me to DROP IT. We dussn't know wot it is. Mebbe a snake skin. Shore woz nommy tho. But mom made me leave it there. Meanie.

And did you notice I does not has my backpack on? Mom warshed it and forgotted to put it back in the car. My nifty pop-up bowl for waters is in the pawket so I did not has that either and had to drink out of a plastic bag. I could has suffocated in there!

Then we ranned into this man wot is called a trail maintainer. He volunteers to build and maintain the trails so that we can hike on them. Trails don't be happening all by themselves - peeples volunteer to adopt a sekshun to keep it clear for hiking. And this volunteer man gibbed the best butt skritches:

So we rilly appreshiate that these peeples werk on the trails to we can hike on them. We does our share by being memmers of the NY/NJ Trail Conference and paying memmership doos to support them and by picking up the litters when we hike. If'n we don't pick up the litters then the trail maintainers has to and it be that much less they has to do coz they alreddy does lots. So here is the litters we nabbed today: (I put Sydney and Dixie on litter dooty when I gotted home - I think it only fair so I can go nap.)

We has been seeing lots of pritty flowahs on the trails now. The furst one is mountain laurel. I dunno wot the udders is called but if'n you knows, let me know so I know when I see them again.

And now, wot you has all been waiting for.... Ta da ta da ta da.... The Shawnee Cam! Keep in mind it woz hawt and I woz hazing to drink out of that plastic bag so you will get a "never before seen" unnerside view on my tung, complete wif foamy slobbers at times.

Here bees a good slimy foamy one:

Now for this seenik overlook, tilt you hed to the rite. A little more. A little more. 'K, now the pikshur should be strate:

Here is an akshun shot of mom's legs:

And here is the whole mom rilly teeny tiny:

And some pikshurs of the trails and trees and stuffs:

So mom sayed OK and gotted us each a bowl but we could only each has 1/3 of a can coz we had to save the rest for Dixie. She is at the V-E-T today getting hers teef cleaned and some big old lumps takened off (a little nip and tuck) so she can has it when she comes home. She be needing some fuel after all that BOL!

Slurp, slurp, slurp, slurp...

BOWL SWAP!

Ahhh, nommy AND refreshing!

Sydney! No chugging out of the can. We is saving that for Dixie!

Thank you Petrol for the fuel! That will come in handy to gib me energies for my hiking!

Ramapo Mountain State Forest, NJ

A few years ago when my sis Dixie used to hike, mom taked us to the Ramapo Mountain State Forest to do hikings but it woz so crazzee crowded wif peeples that we left and wented somewhere else. So today we got there rilly early to start hiking at 7 am. There woz alreddy lots of peeples there but once we gotted into the park and away from the lake, we gotted away from the crowds. We hiked 12 miles and it turned out to be kwite nice. We had some wonnerful seenik views:

There woz also a grate view of the Noo York City skyline:

Then we gotted to this rawk wall wot is ahind me wot we had to climb over. Mom thoughted it would be a prawblem for me but it woz not, I jumped rite up and mom gibbed me a boost in the bootie and over I wented.

And you will never believe wot woz on the udder side of that wall. A castle! For real, rite here in the You Ess of Ay where we dussn't even has kings and queens. But I could pretend I woz the princess of the castle... It is akshually ruins of the castle coz it is all brokened now. (This linkie tells you all about the castle and has pikshurs of wot it looked like when it was not all brokened.)

We wandered around the castle for a while eggsploring. It woz very kewl. But we founded something else - the litter bugs woz hard at werk. This was the litter afore:

This woz after we picked it all up:

And there woz so much mom had to put it in a big bag and tie it to her backpack:

There woz more but we show you the total at the end. For now, back to the hike.

We seened a deer... (akshually, there be 2 deers - see the udder one up in the left corner - we did miss him until we seened hims legs up there)

... and if'n she be looking confoozed, that would be coz of the lowd swishing sound that bag of litters on mom's backpack woz making. Once the deer seened it was a hooman, she gibbed us a last view of hers hiney:

Then we comed to Ramapo Lake and we walked around the whole lake. It woz very beeootifuls.

Mom even taked my backpack off so I could go in the waters.

OK, so we is back home now and I is very tired so I has to go take my nap. I will has Sydney and Dixie show you the litters wot we broughted home for resykling.

Oh, and if'n you missed the Shawnee Cam pikshurs of the hike, they be here.
