Virginia Hiking Trip Day 2

So we got up early in the morning to go hiking in Shenandoah National Park.
We seened the sun waking up from my cabin.
On our way out of the state park we seened this deer hasing breakfast.
Here I is, ready to hike with my lucky "Furginia is fur dog lovers" bandanner on.
We stopped at some of the ofurlooks on Skyline Drive along the way.
There be some good sniffs here and lots of pee mail gossip.
Wait mom, I is not done snootering pee mail yet.
Continuing on Skyline Drive to our hike.
Here we is on that Appalachian Trail.  We hads to decide which way to go.  One way would make it a 5 mile hike and the udder way would make it a 7 mile hike.  Mom thought 7 would be too much fur me seeing as I hiked that much yesterday and we is hiking efurry day this week so we went the way to do the 5 mile hike.
La di da di da, hiking along ...
Oh. My. Dog.  We almost runned smack into a BEAR!  I could has almost smooched him on the lips!
Mom talked to him like she always talks to bears when we sees them.  "Hi Bear!  How are you this morning?  Lovely place you have here!"  Yeah, my mom, she be crazy like that and usually the bears say "EEK! Crazy lady!" and run fur their lives.  Wouldn't you?  But not this bear.  Peeples always ask what I do when I see a bear.  I just pawtend I do not know the crazy lady.  I knows that I is a guest in their home and I do not bother wildlifes.  Now come into my yard, hehehehehe, and I gibs you a run fur your kibble!
This bear do be nomming his breakfast and he did not care that we was standing there.  He was bizzy with more impawtant bear bizziness.
Not caring at all that we is there as long as we doesn't come closer because then he might think we be wanting him to share his breakfast and I tells you, I would make snarly face if'n the bear tried to share my breakfast.
Since Bear was not moving so we could get by, me and mom had no choice but to retreat, turn around and go the udder way which meant we had to do the 7 mile hike.  Bye Bear.  Bone Appetite with whatefur it be you is nomming on ofur there.
We retreated furry slowly like is proper bear pawtocol.
A gnarly old tree.
I do not see any bears up ahead.  The coast be clear, mom.
Oh yes, there was a time when I would sail ofur logs like a gazelle but this one be too high so I skwished myself unner it.
Pawsome, a chance to cool my paws.
Break time!  Chicken jerky!  Life do be good.
Break ofur, back to hiking.
OMD, how pawsome is this?  Fresh spring water right off the trail.
We hads to cross ofur that Skyline Drive so I hads to look both ways.
Back on that Appalachian Trail again.
A chipmonkey!  Mom gets all SQUEEEE ofur them.  Sigh.
So that be Hogback Mountain and we has to climb it next.
But furst, check out this pawsome seenik behind me.
OK, now we moves on.
We hads to take a break climbing up the Hogback Mountain because mom had to catch her brefs.  Not me.  I has 4 paw drive.
We is getting higher.
Here is a better seenik.  Just pawtend those ugly electric wires isn't there.
Furry comfy and peaceful here.  We stayed fur a long time.
I got some belleh rubbins.
Seriously, you should all try this sometime.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
At the end of the hike we was up ofur that Skyline Drive and could spy on all the peeps down below.
All done.  I did make it anudder 7 miles after 7.5 miles the day before.  And before all my Arthur Itis medications we did be thinking my hiking days be coming to an end.  Not so!

Virginia Hiking Trip Day 1, Part 2

So after our hike at Michaux State Forest we got back in the hikemobile and drived fur hours and hours and hours.
We there yet?  Oh, that orange towel, ummm, that be to cofur up my puke from earlier.  I hardly efur puke in the car and it was not such a good idea to do it early on in the trip because then I hads to step ofur it all the time.  I was just ofurwhelmed with excitements about the trip.  And that blue thing, that be a sling what mom uses to fling my hiney up into the hikemobile so I is not needlessly putting wear and tear on my knee and making that Arthur Itis all mad and stuff.  Usually after a hike I is too tired to jump in so it helps get me back in the hikemobile because I is kinda heavy fur mom to pick up and I would not give my cooperations anyways.  Us dogs is good at tripling our weights when we doesn't want to be picked up, BOL!
So finally we was almost there and mom decided to buy our Shenandoah National Park pass furst so we could get in and out all week long.
Just think how many green papers those governmental peeps lost when they was doing snarly face with each other and shut the park down a few weeks ago.
So then we arrived at the Shenahdoah River State Park, not to be confuzzled with Shenandoah National Park.  The State Park peeps doesn't close their parks.
On the way to my cabin, we stopped at Culler's Ofurlook to see the sun go down.
Bootiful.
Finally, we is at my pawsonal cabin, the same one I stayed at 3 years ago!
Checking pee mail from other dogs who stayed in my cabin.
I always has a hard time with steps so I was all weirded out but I got ofur myself and made it up.  After that it be easier to go up.  Just the furst time always gets me.
See, I is up and I is heading straight to my favorite place, the deck with the rawking chairs.
Oh, that be new down there.  It do not be there 3 years ago.  You could make chicken jerky down there.
So now inside, here we has the living room and the foodables room.
There only be a shower in here, no baftub, and fur that I is so grateful because I doesn't fit in the shower.  Whew.  But that did not stop mom from gibbing me a baf before we left my house.  She thinks I should stink like flowahs fur staying in MY cabin.  Phew.
This room is in case you bring hooman puppies with you.  We doesn't has any so we just closed this door.
Here be where me and mom sleep.
My orthopedic bed be too big fur the hikemobile but this werks fine for when I is on vacay.
See, all comfy with Mr. Monkey.
Come back tomorrow fur Day 2 when the Furginia hiking begins!

Virginia Hiking Trip Day 1, Part 1

Hi furrends, I is baaaaack!  What a pawsome time I had on my Furginia hiking trip and I can't waits to tell you all about it.  That Arthur-Itis in my knee was unner control with Adequan, Tramadol, Dasuquin, and a bunch of udder stuff mom sneaks into my foodables.  I hiked 30 miles in 5 days and fur those of you who doesn't know, I is 12 1/2 years old!

We left my house furry early in the morning while it was still dark out and after hours and hours and hours in the hikemobile, we stopped at Michaux State Forest in Pencilvania to do a hike.
Most of the leaves has fallen down here.  I hope the trees in Furginia is still holding their leaves until I get there!
We is hiking this Rocky Knob Trail.
Pawsome portal in the woods.
Here be the seenik!  I shows it to you biggified below.
That be Long Pine Run Reservoir down there and Rocky Knob on the right.
We is heading up on that Rocky Knob now.
I see that Rocky Knob ofur there through the trees.
This do be Rocky Knob.  It just be a big rawk but mom would not let us climb up to the top because rawk climbing makes that Arthur-Itis be bad in my knee.
But an old girl can still hurdle a log or two, if'n they isn't too high, then I skwish myself unner.
So me and mom decided we would make the hike longer since I was doing good with my knee and we went down to that reservoir.
Reservoir means waters fur cooling of the furs and this be the water that goes into the reservoir.
I hads to look both ways to cross the road.
Then we taked this Beeber Trail.
This do be my kind of water!
OMD!  So pawsome!
No wonner they call this the Beeber Trail.
This beeber has big teefs.
Here I is looking back at that Rocky Knob where I was before.
Snack time at the waters!  Drool!
A little powah nap on pine needles.  So comfy.
All refreshed and ready to move on.
After a lot of climbing back up I just taked a break in the middle of the trail.
Almost back at the car.
Here be the track of our hike:
Michaux State Forest, PA - Rocky Knob and Long Pine Run Reservoir at EveryTrail
