Afternoon Snack Time

Sumtimes we gets an afternoon snack. Coz of all of this teef brushing mom has us doing for Johann's Toofer Challenge she has been gibbing us more afternoon snacks coz we is doing so well wif the toof brushings. It's our reward for our cooperashuns. Eggsept for yesterday Sydney could not wate to get hers snack and when mom reached for the toofpaste to reload for brushing the teefs on the udder side of my mouf, the toofpaste was GONE! It disappeared in thin airs! Mom runned thru the house looking for the toofpaste and this is where she founded it:

Yes, Sydney had swiped it in hers mouf and woz trying to make for the back door wif it when mom intercepted. Can you believe she even posed while mom grabbed the camera? It does has chickun flavored toofpastes in it so Sydney mite has thought she would has it as hers snack. But she seened the error of hers way and gibbed it up when mom tolded her to.

Anyway, today we nommed on cow ears for our afternoon snack. Yum.

We all goes to separate corners of the howse and does not leaves our spaces until efurryone is finished so there be no food ishoos amungst us. Mom does not has to tell us to do this, we knows the drill and we disperse accordingly once we has posseshun of the goods.

I prefer to has privacy and wated until mom woz done wif the camera to nom on mine in my hidey spot, which is where I take all my snack to nom on them:




Dixie wented into the libing room where the boy keeps his bike. That is coz mom has to remodel the libing room and there is nuttin else in it rite now. It woz the bunny's room afore she got adopted last week. Oh, did I forget to menshun that? Yes, Penelope woz adopted and now has a new brudder named Joey. Here they is getting to know each udder in their new home and Penelope's new mom reports that after week 1 it is going very well. The bunnies is now hasing their veggie snacks togedder. They is both "fixed" so no worries, there will be no addishuns to the bunny overpopulashun crisis.

So anyway, back to Dixie's nomming place, former libing room /then bunny room/now bike storage and Dixie's nomming room.




And Sydney taked her's into mom's office which is where she always takes hers noms.



Now you mite notice Sydney's canine teefs look horribuls. That is coz in her past life somefing happened to fracture off all 4 of those teefs, tops and bottoms, and she had to has root canals done. That is why they look all icky.But they feel fine to her and she akshually likes to has her teefs brushed so there is no owies in her mouf. And boy, can she nom hers snacks!

And I want to thank efurryone for helping me choose a pikshur for the Yaktrax contesty. Efurryone's input was grate and much appreciated (not to menshun lots of funs)! Now mom alreddy has Yaktrax wot she uses in the snows but the boy does not so if'n mom were to win, she would get them for the boy so he can hike in the snows wif us. Harriman State Park - Pine Meadow Lake (Sloatsburg, NY)

Isn't I the luckiest dog on earth? I gotted to go hiking again today coz it was a howliday (Presidents from the olden days birfdays), mom woz not sore from yesterday's hiking in the deep snows, and mom heared there was not as much snow farther north in Noo York. So off we wented.

See the mountain ahind me? That woz not the way we wented but that woz where we hiked last fall over by Claudius Smith's Den. Today we woz going in the opposite direkshun to Pine Meadow Lake in Harriman State Park. Turns out the snows woz just as deep as where we woz yesterday but... this park is so popular that so many peeples hiked here over the weekend and the trampled down all of the snows. All mom had to do woz put on her YakTrax and we woz good to go! It woz wonnerful hikings, so beeootiful and peaceful with the sounds of running waters nearby. We hiked 10 miles. Keep in mind as you is looking at these pikshurs that anudder big snow storm is coming in tonite. You would never think it by the looks of the bloo skies we had today.







So then we gotted to Pine Meadow Lake and it woz frozened, of course, like all the lakes is rite now.




We wented up this udder trail wot had a rilly steep climb. I had to wait on mom - she woz being very slow. But at the top woz a wonnerful seenik view.




We camed to this old ruin back at the lake where there woz a nice clear spot wif sunbeams and we taked a break there.



On our way back to the car we seened the most fantabulus icysickles!


I knows that looks coldie but no worries about mom and me being cold. As soon as we start moving, espeshully going up a mountain, we is both panting afore you knows it and mom is stowing her jacket away in her backpack even though it mite only be 30 degrees out! As long as we keeps moving, we stays warm. And sometimes I don't even has to be moving. See wot I did in my yard when we gotted home, BOL! The reflekshun of sunbeams off the white snows make them stronger so I gets a better tan.

Mahlon Dickerson Reservation (Jefferson Township, NJ)

So after the big snow storm wot we thought sented more snows to the south than to the north, we figgered we had better try hiking in the north where there should be less snows rite now so we wented to Mahlon Dickerson Reservashun. Turns out there woz lots of snows up north. Mom did not think we could go very far coz it woz very hard for her to walk on soft, deep snow wot she kept sinking into but I had no pwoblems at all. She rilly could has used snowshoes but she does not has any. They cost pritty much monies but if we is going to be hasing snow like this all the times, mom mite want to get some. We ended up doing 5.9 miles so I am gessing mom now has thighs of steel BOL.


Oh, oh, oh, but first I has to tell you wot we drived by rite afore we gotted to the park. Is you reddy? Ta da!

A lake wot is named after me. I is famus! We drived over there to take a look but it is all peeples' houses around the lake so not much to see.

So on to our hike. This is how deep the snows woz:

But like I sayed afore, not a pwoblem for me at all.

We hiked mostly on the Highlands Trail which is sort of like the Appalachian Trail only it is not as long coz it is just in Noo Joisey and Noo York.


First we gotted to Saffin Pond wot woz hiding unner all the snows so you can't rilly see it:



So we had to cross a creek and I gotted over just fine. I tolded mom to bees careful coz she is hebbier than me and you could not tell wot woz rawks to step on to get over and wot woz ice. I could see where udder peeples had fallened thru the ice into the waters. So all of a sudden I hears "CRRRRRUNCH" and a noggty werd wot I cannot repeat and I turn around and mom is gone. Where woz mom? Silly mom had falled through the ice and woz sitting in the snows! But she was OK and dinnot even get her feets wet. I told her to be carefuls!


The we finded some yeller snows. I has always heared you should not eat yeller snows so I did not.


Then we started going up a mountain:





Then all of a suddens we seened somefing rilly big fly up in the airs! I mean the wings opened up woz bigger than me. We is wonnering if'n it woz an eagle. Mom tried to get pikshurs but only one turned out and the bird woz alreddy too far away for a good shot by then. He woz sitting on the cliff rite where the hawt pink circle is wot I drawed then he flied into the skies.


Then we gotted to the top of the mountain wot is called Headley's Overlook. It woz quite beeootiful.


OMD! Look at wot we founded! I had forgotted today is Balentimes Day until I sawed this. Somebody lefted me a Balentime in the snows atop the mountain at Headley's Overlook! That woz way pawsome!


Look mom, this creek has a bridge for you so you don't falls in the creek again!


So even tho there was deep snows and it was hard for mom to walk, the snows made everyfing kwite beeootiful and we had a grate time!
