Anipal Photo Hunt #15: THE VET

OMD!  This do be the worstest subject.  The photo hunt do be about the V-E-T! You mite not let to want yung puppies and kittens or the skweemish adults read this post.  It do be kwite horrifying with fotografik evidences of V-E-T torture.  This be the entire post from last year when me, Dixie and Sydney all went to the V-E-T togedder.  Don't woof or meow that I did not warn you.  It be furry bad.  Here be some hilites:

And the V-E-T did this to me too but  I spinned around too fast fur mom to snag a pikshure.  I subsitoot one of wot the V-E-T did to our foster bunny Penelope last year, wot woz the same thing the V-E-T did to me...

Pee Ess - I has not heared wot happened with Mahwah, NJ voting about banning dogs from all their parks last nite but I did hear a roomor that they changed the ordinance to be banning dogs from only playing fields, not parks, coz peeples do be so outraged about it.  I do let you know wot I hear finally happened when I find out.  Thank you all fur suppawting the petition.  We need to squash these things when they pop up and make lazy peeples PICK UP THEIR DOG POO!!!!  Although I has to say we pick up way more peeple litters than we pick up dog poo from udder dogs...

No Dog Banning!

This do be a matter of utmost urgencies.  Tonight they is hasing a big meeting in Mahwah, NJ where we has gone hiking afore.  They want to ban dogs from ALL parks in Mahwah.  This do be outraguss!  Because a few lazy peeples duss not pick up dog poo and coz somebody let a little peeple walk a big dog wot dropped the leash and let the dog take off after the ball at a soccer game, they now want to say NO DOGS ALLOWED in ALL PARKS in Mahwah!  Can you pawleze ask your pawrents to sign the petishun to show they support against this ordinance? This do affect all of us coz today it be Mahwah, NJ, tomorrow it be your town... We duss not want to set a precedent here!  Thank you!

Trout Brook Valley Conservation Area, CT

So today we drived 1 1/2 gabillion hours ofur to Connetikit fur hiking at Trout Brook Valley Conservation Area.  This sign wot I is standing in front of shows all the peeples wot gibbed lots of green papers to save the land from becoming townhouses and a golf course!

Good thing coz this do be the only park we knows of where, is you reddy fur this.... DOGS IS ALLOWED OFF LEASH!!!! WOO WOO WOO WOO!!!!!  And there was about 25 gabillion dogs there.  It do be a dog pawty,  I gotted smooched and drooled on, and oh, wot funs.

So anyways, when we lefted in the early morning I woz worried coz we crossed this bridge into Noo York City.  Wot woz we doing in the concrete jungle I wonnered?  It woz akshually shorter to get to Connetikit that way so coz it be early in the morning with no traffics, mom wented that way.  She do usually go a longer way to avoid the traffics.  So I worried fur no reason.

So we gotted to the park in Connetikit and started hiking.  The battery woz ded on mom's pedometer but when she added it all up from the park map, we did hike 12 miles.  There woz so much pee mail it woz crazee!

We climbed up this mountain and could see the reservoir.  See that land on the udder side of the reservoir?  Dogs not be allowed ofur there at all.  They is not furry nice.

All the leaves woz down so I could walk on them too...

We did see a golf course through the trees (so I is supposing they found a place fur that after all).  But wot I duss not unnerstand is why peeples chase a ball around with a stick?  Wassup with that?  You pick up the ball and/or the stick in your mouf and run with it - much more effishunt if'n you ask me.

Then we commed to an orchard where they grow froots.  The signs asked peeples not to pick stuff wot belongs to the farmer wot lets us run in his orchard but they can pick blooberries at the end of the orchard eggsept there woz none coz it do almost be winter time.

 

 

Then on our way back through the orchard, OMD, a horsie!  But mom would not let me go smooch him like I did the horsies in Furginia coz this one do be a big horsie and they is sometimes skeered of dogs.

There woz anudder dog ofur there visiting but mom sayed no, two of us mite be too much eggsitements fur the horsie so we keeped going.

Then in the middle of the woods, we finded this statue wot was carved out of wood!

So it woz a furry nice hike today and I would pawsonally like to thank the nice peeples at Aspetuck Land Trust fur making us dogs feel so welcome!  Big Shawnee SMOOCH!

Anipal Photo Hunt #14: MOM!

So this week's photo hunt do be about our Moms (or Mr. Moms).  My furrend Yoda did has a wonnerful magnet maded up of me and my mom from a pikshure from Mother's Day hiking this year wot hangs on our fridge and I see it efurry time I go in the kitchun fur noms.

OK, so you is saying "But I can't see it..."  Fine, don't tell mom but I goes digging and sniffing fur some bigger pikshures...

OK, here be the biggified pikshure of the magnet and that pikshure do be taken at our Black Rock Forest, NY hike.

Big Pocono State Park, PA

So today we climbed up the highest mountain in the Poconos in Pencilvania, Camelback Mountain (no camels there) in Big Pocono State Park and hiked 10 miles.  Camelback Mountain be 2,132 feets high up in the air.  On the way we seened something furry eggsiting!  Rememmer we has seened Lake Shawnee, Shawnee Island and the Shawnee Indians afore?  Well now we has three more things I be famuss fur all on one sign!

I think I like the Shawnee Playhouse the bestest and you is all invited to come ofur and play, k?

Furst we started out on wot they call an old railroad bed, not the kind you sleep in, but where in the olden days a train used to go.  Here be a cuppull of shots of wot it looks like now with no train, just me:

We signed in at the trail registers (there woz 3 of them and mom signed my name wot be Shawnee too) so the peeples would knows we woz on their trail and that we rilly liked it.

So after we got off the old rail bed and on anudder trail, that trail climbed us all the way up the mountain to the top where I did find lots of pee mail.  Peeples can drive up to the top of the mountain so I think lots of dogs gotted there in cars.  How sad when they could has climbed.

Now that side wot you see here looking west woz not all that nice - lots of houses and stuffs.  So we wented to the udder side where we could see the mountains and lots of places where we has hiked afore.

Where the arrow be pointing do be the Delaware Water Gap with Mount Tammany on the left and Mount Minsi on the rite - we has hiked up both those mountains afore and when you go atween those two mountains, you be in Noo Joisey.

This be the whole Kittatinny Mountains on the horizon where the Appalachian Trail runs through and we has done lots of hikes along almost all of this part:

We taked a break and I had my Powah Bones - I git so eggsited over nomming Powah Bones!

On one trail we woz on we did see a memorial.  How furry sad.  We dussn't know wot happened but he seemed like a furry nice yung man and he liked anipals, too.

It sure woz bootiful to make such a nice memmories to him.

So then we wented on this trail wot is called the Indian Trail but there woz no Indians there, just more seeniks.

And some fire crackers wot some doodyheds lefted.  I taked them out in my backpack to throw away but I cannot let my sis Sydney see them coz she do be skeered of the fire crackers.  These woz alreddy boomed up but she dussnt' know that.

So that be it.  It do be a bootiful day and a bootiful hike with all kinds of seeniks.

Anipal Photo Hunt #13: From Where I Stand

This week's photo hunt do be about wot we see from where we stand.  This bringed back memmeries of The Shawnee Cam, RIP.  If'n you rememmer, mom writed that Uncle Miltie wot makes them and at furst he did not ansser but then he finally did and he sayed he be sending me a brand spanking noo one.  Well he neffur did!  Nada.  Nuttin.  Grrrrr.  Be sure you dussn't buy nuttin from that big doodyhed.  I is waging an Uncle Miltie Boikot.  So I digged thru my old Shawnee Cam pikshures fur you to show you how I sees things from where I stand...
