Fall Foliage Hiking Slacker

Hi furrends!  Sorry I has not been around.  I has not been slacking on hiking, I has been slacking on blogging about hiking (and visiting your bloggies) and this do not be a good time fur slacking coz it be bootiful here with the leaves all colored and stuffs.  So I is going to try to catch up and come around and visit all of YOU!

Last week I went to the mountains in the Catskills fur some leaf peeping coz their leaves woz better than ours being in the mountains and stuffs.

We went by this cabin where artists can come and stay to get inspawration fur their artwerks in the mountains.

From the cabin we went down, down, down into the canyon to the ...

Falling Waters!  (I has my no-huntin-me collah AND bandanner on coz there could has been hunters around but we nefur seened any.  Mom had my no-huntin-me vest in her backpack just in case we needed more no-huntin-me stuffs on me but we was good.)

We signed the trail register - I had mom sign us in as "1 peeple and 1 dog".

Then we crossed this snazzy bridge ofur the creek.

And we found this old quarry in the woods where peeples made FURniture out of the rawks.  Not furry comfy.

We climbed back up to the top of the mountain but OMD, why is we in a cloud?  Where do the seeniks be?

I did find anudder old quarry but no seeniks so we will has to come by here later to see if'n that cloud be gone off the mountaintop.

In the meantime, we went down to Echo Lake fur some CHIKEN JERKY!  And I is here to tell you Echo Lake do be called Echo Lake fur a reason.  I woofed like this:  WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF and it commed back at me like WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOf WOof Woof woof ... w o o f... w  o  o  f ...... w   o   o   f.....  Fur real!

Then I needed a powah nap.

Then we climbed back up to the mountaintop...

... and I found this ginormous rawk teetering on the edge of the mountain!

Skooze me?  Do there be cars up on this mountain or sumpin? Oh, that must be from the olden days when cars drived up to...

... the Overlook Mountain House afore it was all brokened.

It do be looking like a stuffie with no guts now.

We went on up to the top of Overlook Mountain but as you can see, furrends, that cloud do be ofur this mountain, too.  There be a fire towah here and a cabin with infurmations.  Mom tied me to a picnic bench like a common dog while she went into the cabin to see infurmations.  I did get lots of skritches from udder hikers while mom woz in that cabin so I can't complain.  Too much.  Dogs is allowed off leash in the Catskills so being tied to a bench was sooooo wrong. :(

So we started back down the mountain and I snootered out a side trail to a ledge with seeniks unner the cloud - check it out...

Ta da!  That be the Hudson River Valley unner the big cloud.

Then on our way back we stopped at that udder seenik wot was unner a cloud afore and it the cloud was gone so some peeples at the seenik taked our picture. 

Wowser!  Lots of pritty leaves all the way back to our car!
